about alex carter
originally from st. louis, missouri, chelsey carter is a chicago based designer, creative entrepreneur, and the founder of alex carter, an independent, unisex fashion brand established in 2015.
chelsey’s love for storytelling has always influenced the way she creates. with a natural curiosity for the unconventional, she approaches design as an opportunity to explore individuality, challenge expectations, and tell stories through clothing. her work often draws inspiration from abstract concepts, personal experiences, and the beauty found in things that don’t necessarily belong together.
at its core, alex carter is about self expression. designed for those who aren’t afraid to take up space, the brand explores the balance between masculine and feminine, structure and fluidity, and sensuality without the need for exposure. it’s everyday clothing for not so everyday people.
much of chelsey’s creative perspective is rooted in the influence of her late grandmother, a woman whose strength, individuality, and way of moving through the world continue to shape both the person and designer she is today.
since launching alex carter, her work has been worn by artists including sza and erykah badu, featured on season 18 of project runway, and recognized in publications including vogue italia, elle, the chicago tribune, chicago sun times, and modern luxury.
more than anything, chelsey believes clothing should make you feel something. whether it’s confidence, curiosity, or the freedom to show up exactly as you are, every piece is an invitation to express yourself on your own terms.
shipping + returns

domestic shipping. alex carter ships throughout the united states. domestic shipping is a flat rate of $10 per order.
chicago pick-up. local to chicago? choose “chicago pick-up” in your bag and shipping is free. we’ll email you to arrange a pick-up time once your order is ready.
once your order has been fulfilled and shipped, you will receive a confirmation email containing tracking information.
please note that shipping transit times are separate from our order fulfillment timeline.
international shipping. we are pleased to offer international shipping.
international shipping starts at $25 for the first item, plus $8 for each additional item.
international customers are responsible for any applicable customs duties, import taxes, or additional fees imposed by their destination country.
delivery timelines may vary depending on location and customs processing.
returns + exchanges. all alex carter purchases are final sale.
we do not accept returns or exchanges. we encourage customers to carefully review product descriptions, sizing, and order details before completing their purchase.
if you receive an incorrect or damaged item, please contact our customer service team within 7 days of delivery with your order number and supporting photographs so we can review and address the issue.
